Overview: Staff is developing proposed revisions to the Land Use Management Ordinance (LUMO) that respond to the interests of the September 22, 2021 petition by Council members to create an expedited application process for projects with a substantial amount of affordable housing.
Recommendation(s):
That the Council adopt the resolution calling for a legislative hearing on October 19, 2022to amend the Land Use Management Ordinance (LUMO) related to a community priority review process for affordable housing.
Key Issues:
* Timely review of applications for qualifying affordable housing projects that maximizes financing and funding opportunities.
* Reducing local barriers to entry for affordable housing developers, including "at-risk" investment.
* Expanding the suite of strategies that address escalating housing prices, scarcity of affordable units, and limited production of new housing.
