Overview: The purpose of this item is to present the "Celebrating Our Successes" video as well as a presentation about the Town's Stormwater Program and projects.
Recommendation(s):
That the Council receive the presentation.
Key Issues:
* Infrastructure Improvements: The Town recently completed several stormwater infrastructure improvement projects such as the Perry Creek Drive Culvert repair, Booker Creek Road Culvert Replacement, and Elliott Road Culvert Replacement.
* Subwatershed Studies: The Lower Booker Creek Subwatershed Study identified several priority projects for the Town to construct to help control flooding issues in the Lower Booker Creek Subwatershed. The top project identified, Elliott Road Flood Storage, is nearing design completion and will begin this summer. Stormwater is proceeding with studies of the remaining 16 subwatersheds in the town and is nearing completion of the Eastwood Lake Subwatershed Study.
* Stormwater Core Services:
o The Town's Stormwater Maintenance Crew responds to drainage concerns. Examples include Hurricane Florence stream debris removal, pipe outfall rehabilitation, and drainage system improvements.
o The Town's Stormwater Program is the local contact for the Clean Water Act (CWA) of 1972, which established the basic structure for regulating pollutant discharges into waters of the United States. The Illicit Discharge Ordinance allows us to enforce pollution prevention standards across the Town. For more information about CWA, please use the following link:
