memorandum

to:                     Mayor and Town Council

from:                     Mary Jean Seyda, Housing Advisory Board Chair

subject:                     Recommendation for the vacancy(s)

date:                     September 24, 2018

Recommendation:  The Housing Advisory Board met on Monday, September 24th, 2018 and by a unanimous vote have made the following recommendation(s) to the Town Council for consideration:

Dawna Jones, Appointment, Affordable Housing Advocate Seat

Special Request(s):  None

Background: Dawna would bring to the Housing Advisory Board national experience in affordable housing as both an advocate for affordable housing and homeless residents and a case manager for shared housing programs, a connection to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as the Assistant Dean of Students in the Office of the Dean of Students, and would increase the diversity of the Board.

Note: Communications and Public Affairs notes that the Housing Advisory Board reviewed the following applications: Susan Humbert, Dawna Jones, Wesley Rudd, and Debra Vestal. No additional applications have been received between September 24, 2018 and October 3, 2018 for the Housing Advisory Board.
