MEMORANDUM

TO:                     Mayor and Town Council

FROM:                     Joshua Romero, Community Policing Advisory Committee Chair

SUBJECT:                     Recommendation for the vacancy(s)

DATE:                     June 10, 2021

RECOMMENDATION: The Community Policing Advisory Committee met on Monday, June 7, 2021 and by a unanimous vote made the following recommendation(s) to the Town Council for consideration:

                     Shiala Baldwin, Reappointment, Town Resident

SPECIAL REQUEST(s):  Leave the remaining four (4) seats vacant until September so that the committee can solicit additional applicants.

BACKGROUND: The Community Policing Advisory Committee has 5 upcoming vacancies due to one person who served their maximum terms, one who does not wish to be reappointed, one who served a partial term and is requesting reappointment, and two from members, who resigned. The Community Policing Advisory Committee has recommended the reappointment of Shiala Baldwin, who has served a partial term. The hope is that the remaining four (4) seats will remain vacant over the summer break so that the committee can solicit additional applicants. We hope to fill the remaining four (4) vacancies in September.

Note: Communications and Public Affairs notes that the Community Policing Advisory Committee reviewed the following applications: Shiala Baldwin, Krista Caraway, Andrew Creech, Chase Davenport, Sarah Goldstein, William Talley, and Denise Thompson. No additional applications have been received between June 10, 2021 and June 16, 2021 for the Community Policing Advisory Committee.
