Recommendation: The Justice in Action Committee met on June 6, 2019 and by a unanimous vote have made the following recommendations to the Town Council for consideration:
• Robert Campbell, Reappointment, Chapel Hill-Carrboro Planning Seat
• Sarah Cheek, Appointment, Chapel Hill-Carrboro Planning Seat
• Elizabeth Flake, Appointment, Outside Chapel Hill-Carrboro Planning Seat
• Ruby Garcia, Appointment, Chapel Hill-Carrboro Planning Seat
• Jaclyn Gilstrap, Reappointment, Chapel Hill-Carrboro Planning Seat
• Miriam Madison, Appointment, Chapel Hill-Carrboro Planning Seat
Special Request(s): Holding a vacant seat for Outside Chapel Hill-Carrboro Planning Seat as no additional candidates at time of recommendation. JAIC actively recruiting members who are from outside of the Chapel Hill Carrboro planning jurisdiction. Request to keep seat open and accept recommendation from JIAC in early fall.
Background: JIAC is requesting approval for above recommendation of new members. These candidates were recommended to cultivate new board members who can expand the board’s collective cultural awareness as they bring a variety of professional expertise, cultural backgrounds, and spectrum of life experiences.
Note: Communications and Public Affairs notes that the Justice in Action Committee reviewed the following applications: Paloma Baca, Robert Campbell, Sarah Cheek, Elizabeth Flake, Ruby Garcia, Jacklyn Gilstrap, Courtney Lewis, Miriam Madison, Aimee Mchale, Amanda Murray, and Morgan Sennhauser. One (1) additional application (Kristine Williams) was received between June 6, 2019 and June 19, 2019 for the Justice in Action Committee.
