RECOMMENDATION: The Parks, Greenways, and Recreation Commission met on Tuesday September 19, 2023, and by a unanimous vote made the following recommendation(s) to the Town Council for consideration:
* Cathy (Holly) Burnham, Appointment, Town Resident
SPECIAL REQUEST(s): None]
BACKGROUND: Cathy (Holly) Burnham is a graduate of the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill and has a degree in Recreation Administration. Holly is very interested in environmental health and was in the Peace Corps as a health educator working with youth, seniors, and people at risk. This experience exposed her to diverse lifestyles, cultures, and social norms in a foreign country, which taught her much about attending to and understanding others' perspectives.
The Commission received this application after the Town was no longer posting for this opportunity. There are two vacancies on the Commission, a Town Resident, and an Orange County representative.
The Commission was impressed by Cathy Burnham's interests and perspectives and appreciated the opportunity to review and recommend this candidate to serve on the Commission.
