RECOMMENDATION: The Housing Advisory Board met on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 and by a unanimous vote made the following recommendation(s) to the Town Council for consideration:
* Jamauria Burris, Appointment, Non-Market Rate Housing Resident seat
* Valencia Thompson, Appointment, Non-Profit Housing Provider/Professional seat
SPECIAL REQUEST(s): None.
BACKGROUND: The Board recommended Jamauria Burris based on her personal experience searching for and securing affordable housing for her family in the Town of Chapel Hill.
The Board recommended Valencia Thompson based on her professional experience with both the rental and for sale housing markets while acting as a property manager and housing counselor for Empowerment and as a licensed real estate broker locally.
Note: Communications and Public Affairs notes that the Housing Advisory Board reviewed the following applications: Jamauria Burris, Kimberly Sykes (Non-Market Rate Housing Resident Seat Category) and Valencia Thompson (Non-Profit Housing Provider/Professional Seat Category). Kimberly Sykes withdrew her application during the Housing Advisory Board meeting.
