MEMORANDUM

TO:                     Mayor and Town Council

FROM:                     Sue Hunter, Chair Housing Advisory Board

SUBJECT:                     Recommendation for the vacancy(s)

DATE:                     October 12, 2022

RECOMMENDATION: The Housing Advisory Board met on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 and by a unanimous vote made the following recommendation(s) to the Town Council for consideration:

Anthony Williams, Appointment, Affordable Housing Advocate

SPECIAL REQUEST(s): None

BACKGROUND: The Board recommended Anthony Williams based on his experience working with non-profit organizations providing advocacy and services related to affordable housing and homelessness, and his understanding of local affordable housing issues as a long-time member of the Chapel Hill community.

Note: Communications and Public Affairs notes that the Housing Advisory Board reviewed the following applications: Irina Bennett, Ainsley Briggs, Virginia Carson, Laurie Paolicelli, Maddie Roberts (Homeowner or Tenant Seat Category), and Anthony Williams. Three other applications were received but not reviewed by the Housing Advisory Board: Michelle Cassell, Betty Curry, and Kent Earnhardt. Four other applications received were not eligible for the vacant seats at the time of application: Lisa Ducharme, Theodore Nollert, Maria Rosales, and Kimberly Sykes. The Board reviewed Erika Walker’s application, and she has since withdrawn the application.
