Overview: The first attached staff report provides updates about how the Town is implementing the Council’s adopted Climate Action and Response Plan <https://online.flippingbook.com/view/857144275/58/>. The updates are broken out across the four main action categories: (1) buildings & energy, (2) transportation & land use, (3) water, wastewater & natural resources, and (4) resiliency. The second attached report includes follow-up information and a staff recommendation regarding the Environmental Stewardship Advisory Board’s electrification petition <https://chapelhill.legistar.com/LegislationDetail.aspx?ID=5677943&GUID=6E9D7324-9CA4-44FD-A2E0-D2A705C88ADA&Options=&Search=>. The third attached report is a solar fact sheet which provides options for how the Town can continue pursuing renewable investments that support our clean energy goals.

Recommendation(s):

That the Council receive the information and provide guidance to staff, particularly for the recommendations that respond to the Environmental Stewardship Advisory Board’s electrification petition (attached and within the staff presentation).

Fiscal Impact/Resources: The first attached staff report includes a series of actions that are funded by the Town’s Climate Action Fund, other Town resources, and various grant awards. There are no additional fiscal impacts associated with this update.
