Overview: At the October 20, 2021 work session, Town staff provided the Council an update <https://chapelhill.legistar.com/LegislationDetail.aspx?ID=5185898&GUID=1508D5BA-DF59-4821-923E-4A6680732D9C> on community interest and ideas about having a splash pad in the Chapel Hill parks system. Tonight, Parks and Recreation staff will provide an update on this potential project and will share options for moving ahead. The Council will also be able to provide feedback on having a larger destination splash pad and/or smaller splash areas at multiple locations.

Developing a splash pad is consistent with a recommendation included in the 2013 Comprehensive Parks Plan.

Recommendation(s):

That the Council receive the update and support the continued exploration of constructing a splash pad.

Decision Points:

                     Should the Town continue with its exploration of the options noted within the presentation?

Fiscal Impact/Resources: Town staff will present financial impacts during the meeting.
