(Jessica Anderson Tai Huynh Karen Stegman)

To leave both seats vacant, pending further the recruitment

SPECIAL REQUEST(s):  The Council Interview Committee recommends that the Town develop a recruitment strategy that includes support from the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Officer. The Council Committee interviewed three people that were very qualified and felt comfortable appointing two of the three no later than February 2022, if there weren’t additional applicants.

MEMORANDUM

TO:                     Mayor and Town Council

FROM:                     Michael Everhart, Chair, Planning Commission

SUBJECT:                     Recommendation for the vacancy(s)

DATE:                     November 2, 2021

RECOMMENDATION: The Planning Commission met on November 2,2021 and by a 5-3 vote made the following recommendation(s) to the Town Council for consideration:

                     James Bartow, Appointment, Town Resident

To leave one seat vacant, pending further the recruitment

SPECIAL REQUEST(s):  The Planning Commission narrowly selected James Bartow to fill one seat, but did not elect to choose a second member

The Planning Commission feels the Town needs to work to recruit and appoint more diverse candidates as the current composition is heavily biased to males and only one person of color.

As a starting point, the Town needs to have representation from a woman of color on the Planning Commission.
