Overview: The Council Procedures Manual authorizes the Council Naming Committee to annually recommend to Council names of persons nominated to be honored on the Peace and Justice Plaza marker. Nominees for the Peace and Justice Plaza marker must be deceased and have demonstrated a lifelong commitment to furthering the causes of peace and justice in Chapel Hill. The Naming Committee recommends that the Council proceed with engraving two names on the marker in FY22: Robert Seymour and Edith Wiggins. The Naming Committee notes that the marker at the Peace and Justice Plaza site will near maximum capacity once both names have been engraved on the marker.

Recommendation(s):
That the Council authorizes the Town Manager to proceed with engraving the names of Robert Seymour and Edith Wiggins on the Peace and Justice Plaza marker.
