SPECIAL REQUEST(s):  We have included 2 alternates for your consideration. Should one of our recommended applicants not be appointed or are otherwise unable or willing to join us we would like to appoint an alternate. If that occurs, we will bring a recommendation back before Council in a similar memorandum.

BACKGROUND: The Community Policing Advisory Committee reviewed 15 applications during our October meeting. We have several vacancies due to terms expiring and other resignations. For months we had very few applications come in and were not able to fill our vacancies. However, after a very successful community engagement event on Saturday September 26th, 2020 the number of applications increased significantly. The Board was looking for diversity in experience and background to help fill the 6 vacancies. The above recommended people meet that interest, and we are excited to recommend them to the join the Community Policing Advisory Committee.

It should be noted that one applicant, Shiala Baldwin is already a member of the Justice In Action Committee.

Note: Communications and Public Affairs notes that the Community Policing Advisory Committee reviewed the following applications: Shiala Baldwin, Krista Caraway, Julius Coulter, Andrew Creech, Clark French, Sarah Goldstein, Sarah Hoffman, Joseph Horrigan, Kevin Leibel, Karen Lissey, Alice Mahood, Tracey Miller, Nikkima Santos, William Talley, Denise Thompson, Elizabeth Taylor, and Cynthia Watkins. No additional applications have been received between October 12, 2020 and October 26, 2020 for the Community Policing Advisory Committee. Elizabeth Taylor withdrew her application.
