Overview: Council members and members of the public recently asked questions about specific bicycle and pedestrian projects and about the funding and process for implementing them. Tonight’s presentation includes:
• status updates for current bike and pedestrian projects,
• information about funding and the process for implementing these projects, and
• explanation of the Franklin Street lane reallocation project, as referenced in the Chapel Hill Downtown Partnership’s recent petition to Council.
|
Recommendation(s): |
That the Council receive information on bicycle and pedestrian transportation projects.
Context:
• ‘Making it easier to walk, bike, or take transit’ was the top priority among FLUM survey respondents.
• Town Council Connected Community Strategic Goal strives to create a bike-pedestrian friendly community.
• The Town Council adopted the Mobility and Connectivity Plan in October 2017, including over $40 million in proposed bike and pedestrian infrastructure projects.
• Funding for bike-pedestrian projects is limited.
