memorandum

to:                     Mayor and Town Council

from:                                          Kayla Prestwood, Housing Advisory Board Chair

subject:                     Recommendation for the vacancy(s)

date:                                          June 5, 2019

Recommendation:  The Housing Advisory Board met on May 14, 2019 and by a unanimous vote made the following recommendations to the Town Council for consideration:

Jared Brown-Rabinowitz, Reappointment, Homeowner or Tenant

Mary Jean Seyda, Reappointment, Non-Profit Housing Provider/Professional

Special Request(s):  The board request to hold recommendations for the For-Profit Developer seat until fall 2019 to allow for more recruitment.  None of the current applicants met the requirements for the for the For-Profit Developer seat.

Background: Jared Brown-Rabinowitz and Mary Jean Seyda were recommended for reappointment based on their experience and contributions to the Board.  Jim Yamin is the current For-Profit Developer member.  Jim Yamin did not apply to be reappointed because his workload has increased and he stated that he does not have the time available that is necessary to devote to the Housing Advisory Board as he believes the position deserves.

Note: Communications and Public Affairs notes that the Housing Advisory Board reviewed the following applications: Caroline Barnes, Jared Brown-Rabinowitz, Jack Coon, Jeffrey Hoagland, Susan Humbert, Hannah Olmstead, Wesley Rudd, Mary Jean Seyda, Debra Vestal, and Cynthia Watkins. No additional applications have been received between May 14, 2019 and June 17, 2019 for the Housing Advisory Board.

Caroline Barnes, Susan Humbert, Wesley Rudd, Debra Vestal, and Cynthia Watkins are interested in the Affordable Housing Advocate seat; however, there is no vacancy for that seat.
