Recommendation(s):

That the Council make appointments to the Transportation and Connectivity Advisory Board for three (3) seats.

Recommendation:  The Transportation and Connectivity Advisory Board met on May 28, 2019 and by a majority vote have made the following recommendation(s) to the Town Council for consideration:

                     Heather Brutz, Reappointment, Chapel Hill Resident

                     Aaron Frank, Appointment, Bicycle Advocate

                     Susanne Kjemtrup-Lovelace, Reappointment, Chatham County Resident

The Board voted via ballots - they each voted for their top 3 candidates (there were 6 board members present, so 18 total votes). Heather Brutz received 4 votes, Susanne Kjemptrup-Lovelace received 6 votes, Aaron Frank and Fred Lampe both received 3 votes, and Mimi Clemmons received 2 votes. The Board voted again to break the tie between Aaron Frank and Fred Lampe, and Aaron Frank received 4 votes and Fred Lampe received 2 votes.

Background: Aaron Frank is a former Town of Chapel Hill Planner and currently works as a land planner for a private firm representing property owners.  He served on boards and commissions previously, including the Fairfax Bicycle Advisory Committee.  He has lived a car-free lifestyle for the past three years and is a bicycle and transit advocate.

 

Note: Communications and Public Affairs notes that the Transportation and Connectivity Advisory Board reviewed the following applications: Heather Brutz, Mimi Clemens, Aaron Frank, William H Hunt, Bhavani M Iyer, Rudy Juliano, Susanne Kjemtrup-Lovelace, Fred Lampe, and Anthony Waller.  No additional applications have been received between May 28, 2019 and June 3, 2019 for the Transportation and Connectivity Advisory Board.
