Overview: Under the new Percent for Art Program Guidelines approved by Council on May 2, 2018 <https://chapelhill.legistar.com/LegislationDetail.aspx?ID=3489141&GUID=54374FD9-B546-4B62-A5D8-786D8F626228&Options=&Search=>, staff shall prepare an annual Percent for Art (PFA) Plan that includes the following:

•                     Forthcoming capital projects that are eligible for PFA

•                     Recommendations for use of PFA funds either on-site or contributed to pooled funds

•                     Recommendations for forthcoming projects to be funded by those pooled funds

•                     Summary of previous year’s PFA appropriations and expenditures

•                     Update on projects in progress

Recommendation(s):

That the Council adopt the resolution approving the 2018/19 Percent for Art Plan.

A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE 2018/2019 PERCENT FOR ART PLAN (2019-02-20/R-5)

WHEREAS, the Town of Chapel Hill established a Percent for Art in 2002 to help define the community’s identity and sense of place, promote social interaction and discourse, bring the arts into everyday life and memorialize the past while expressing shared values for the future; and

WHEREAS, the Town Council reaffirmed the Percent for Art program in 2018 and adopted revised procedures for the program; and

WHEREAS, those revised procedures include an annual Percent for Art plan to be created by Community Arts & Culture staff, approved by the Cultural Arts Commission, and presented to Town Council for adoption.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Council adopt the 2018/2019 Percent for Art Plan.
