Affirm Chapel Hill-Carrboro City School's Nomination of Council Member Parker to Serve on Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools' Business Advisory Council.

Overview: Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools (CHCCS) is now required by General Statute to create a business advisory council to focus on workforce development and business in the community. The statutes indicates that Council membership will include representatives from manufacturing, public service agencies, a local apprenticeship coalition and economic and workforce development. The Board of Education will make the initial appointments for terms beginning January 1, 2018.


Recommendation(s):
That the Council affirm CHCCS' nomination of Town of Chapel Hill Council Member Michael Parker to serve on the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools' Business Advisory Council.

Key Issues:
* CHCCS used a committee to nominate members, and Michael Parker was nominated.
* Council may choose to nominate a different Council Member should they so choose.

WHEREAS, the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools (CHCCS) is now required by General Statute to create a business advisory council to focus on workforce development and business in the community; and

WHEREAS, CHCCS used a committee to nominate members, and Michael Parker was nominated.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Council affirm the nomination of Council Member Michael Parker to serve on the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools' Business Advisory Council.
