BACKGROUND AND CONTEXT*
• The Town’s existing land surveying equipment has reached the end of its useful life and is now functionally obsolete. The replacement equipment is a packaged unit that must be compatible with the Town’s existing data collector.
• Professional land surveying equipment is required to survey rights-of-way for maintenance responsibilities and to collect boundary, topographic, and terrain data used to develop base maps and drawings for in-house projects.
TRADEOFFS, ALTERNATIVES, IMPACTS
Options include purchasing a completely new equipment system at a higher anticipated cost or hiring a third-party surveying firm, which would be more expensive and less timely than performing the work in-house.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Funds are available in the General Fund to purchase the land surveying equipment.
