TO: Mayor and Town Council

SUBJECT: Recommendation for the vacancy(s)

DATE: May 30, 2023


RECOMMENDATION: The Parks, Greenways, and Recreation Commission met on Tuesday May 30, 2023 and by a Unanimous vote made the following recommendation(s) to the Town Council for consideration:

* Margaret Moore, Appointment, Town Resident

SPECIAL REQUEST(s): None

BACKGROUND: Margaret Moore, a rising senior at UNC-Chapel Hill, wants to bring a student's perspective of the town's parks, greenways, and recreation opportunities. Margaret wants to make these facilities more accessible to students. Margaret is majoring in Public Policy and History with a minor in Urban Studies and Planning. This appointment will be Margaret's first time on an advisory board.

The Commission received three applications for a position. However, only one applicant accepted an invitation to be interviewed. There will be two other vacant spots this summer. One of these vacancies is an Orange County representative, and the other will be a Town Resident.

The Commission was impressed by Margaret Moore's interests and perspectives and appreciated the opportunity to review and recommend candidates to serve on the Commission.
