RECOMMENDATION: The Parks, Greenways and Recreation Commission met on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 and by a unanimous vote made the following recommendation(s) to the Town Council for consideration:

 

                     Bill Brashear, Appointment, Town Resident

 

SPECIAL REQUEST(s): None

 

BACKGROUND: Bill Brashear has lived in Chapel Hill for over ten years and is a regular Parks and Recreation Department volunteer. Bill works to protect Chapel Hill parks and greenways using various methods, including reforestation stormwater abatement through land management and reforestation. Bill has spent numerous hours volunteering at the Towns Legion property, where he has worked with other volunteers to remove invasive plants and to revegetate with native plant materials.

 

The Commission was impressed by Bill Brashear’s interests and perspectives and appreciated the

opportunity to review and recommend this candidate to serve on the Commission.

 

 

Note: Governance Services notes that one additional application was received between October 17 and November 15 for the Parks, Greenways, and Recreation Commission.
