SUBJECT: Recommendation for the vacancy(s)

RECOMMENDATION: The Historic District Commission met on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 and by a unanimous vote made the following recommendation(s) to the Town Council for consideration:

* Jennifer Hoffman, Appointment, Town Resident
* Neal Wolgin, Appointment, Town Resident

SPECIAL REQUEST(s): The HDC is currently operating with only six members, which is barely a quorum. I therefore hope you will vote to appoint both of these excellent candidates to serve on the HDC at your earliest possible opportunity.


BACKGROUND: Jennifer Hoffman is a residential designer and licensed general contractor who attended graduate school at The University of Buffalo School of Architecture and Planning where she taught courses on architectural history. She owns a local design-build company and has served previously on the Town's Community Design Commission. Ms. Hoffman is a member of the national and local Home Builders Association and the Professional Women in Building Council.

In her application, Ms. Hoffman stated that she "would bring a passionate interest in the historical preservation of Chapel Hill's historic neighborhoods and buildings, along with a realistic acceptance of the evolution and necessary adaptation of our town." She lo...
