STAFF RECOMMENDATION*
Staff recommends that Council adopt a resolution appointing a NC League of Municipalities (NCLM) voting delegate.

LEGISLATIVE CONTEXT*
The League's Bylaws provide that each member municipality is entitled to one vote. Designation of your city or town's voting delegate must be completed before April 14, 2025.
BACKGROUND AND CONTEXT*
The delegate must vote online on a league board of directors' list in the spring, and on league legislative goals in the late fall/winter. Sometimes, the delegate must vote in person at the annual conference (CityVision) on substantive matters, such as changes to the governing documents.
TRADEOFFS, ALTERNATIVES, IMPACTS
If Council decides not to delegate a member, then the Town wouldn't participate in setting the board of directors and prioritizing the NCLM goals.

A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING A VOTING DELEGATE TO THE NC LEAGUE OF MUNICIPALITIES (2025-04-09/R-6)
WHEREAS, League's CityVision 2025 annual conference includes the annual business meeting where the new Board of Directors will be announced; and
WHEREAS, each member municipality is eligible to cast a single vote for the League's Board of Directors by April 21, in advance of the annual business meeting; and
WEHREAS, each member municipality can vote once for other League decisions, like the voting on league legislative goals in the late fall/winter.
