Overview: The Town of Chapel Hill is transferring seventy-five surplus portable radios to the UNC Health, Hospital Police Department. This transfer is authorized under North Carolina General Statute ?160A-274, which permits the sale, lease, or exchange of property between governmental units. The radios are being transferred because they are considered obsolete and unused.


Recommendation(s):
That the Council adopt a resolution declaring 75 portable radios obsolete and authorizing the transfer of those radios to the UNC Health Hospital Police Department. The radios will be used by the UNC Health, Hospitals Police Department for public safety purposes.

A RESOLUTION DONATE SURPLUS EQUIPMENT(2024-06-17/R-2)

WHEREAS, the Town of Chapel Hill has determined that seventy-five (75) portable radios are surplus, obsolete, and unused;

WHEREAS, in accordance with North Carolina General Statute ?160A-274, the Town of Chapel Hill intends to transfer said radio equipment to UNC Health, Hospital Police Department;

WHEREAS, NCGS ?160A-274 permits the Town of Chapel Hill to transfer property to another governmental unit within the United States after Council approval;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Council hereby approves the conveyance of the aforementioned surplus radio equipment to UNC Health, Hospital Police Department for public safety purposes.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Town Manager is authorized to execute any necessary documents to effectuate this transfer.
