RECOMMENDATION: The Housing Advisory Board met on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 and by a unanimous vote made the following recommendation(s) to the Town Council for consideration:

 

                     Sue Hunter, Reappointment, Homeowner or Tenant

                     Joyce Powell, Appointment, Homeowner or Tenant

 

SPECIAL REQUEST(s): None

 

BACKGROUND: The Board recommended Sue Hunger based on her experience as a Housing Advisory Board member over the past 3 years and her experience on the Orange County Planning Board, as well as her long-time residency in Chapel Hill.

 

The Board recommended the appointment of Joyce Powell based on her long-time residency in Chapel Hill, including her lived experience navigating the challenges associated with finding affordable housing in Chapel Hill

 

 

Note: Governance Services notes that the Housing Advisory Board reviewed the following applications: Donna Carrington, Lisa Ducharme, Susan Hunter, Joyce Powell, Maddie Roberts, Maria Rosales, and Riley Sullivan. The board also reviewed applications for Betty Curry and Karo-d’vera Jonshon-el, and Kimberly Sykes but they are not eligible for this seat category.  No additional applications were received between August 8, 2023 and September 6, 2023 for the Housing Advisory Board.
