memorandum
to: Mayor and Town Council
from: Jabe Hunter, Staff Liaison to the Community Policing Advisory Committee
subject: Recommendation for the vacancy(s)
date: February 5, 2019
Recommendation: The Community Policing Advisory Committee met on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 and by a unanimous vote of 4-0 have made the following recommendations to the Town Council for consideration:
• Elizabeth Taylor, Appointment, Regular Seat
Special Request(s): The seat recommended for Elizabeth Taylor has been held by Gabrielle Tiffin who was appointed in June 2018. Ms. Tiffin has not attended any of our meetings and has not returned any communication from the Chair or staff liaison. She has missed more than three consecutive meetings without informing the Commission or staff that she would not be in attendance.
Background: The Committee considered the following points about the recommended candidates:
Elizabeth Taylor - She has attended both the Chapel Hill Police Department Community Police Academy and the Town’s Peoples Academy. Both have motivated her to become more involved with her community. She is excited to be a part of ensuring that there are positive relationships between our community and the police.
Note: Communications and Public Affairs notes that the Community Policing Advisory Committee reviewed the following applications: Bill Murray and Elizabeth Taylor. No additional applications have been received between January 23, 2019 and February 6, 2019 for the Community Policing Advisory Committee.
