Overview: The Justice in Action Committee was assessed as part of a recent Council petition regarding the Town’s system of boards & commissions. Staff reported that since this ad hoc committee was formed in 2004, the Town has dedicated staff and resources in the areas of DEI and social justice. Staff also reported that in recent years, the Committee has struggled with its charge and meeting content. At the November 13, 2023 work session, the Council affirmed the Justice in Action Committee and staff’s recommendation to dissolve the Committee. This is the first action in a series of recommendations resulting from that petition and assessment.
