Overview: A donor who wishes to have their identity remain unpublicized by the Town desires to donate two new passenger vans to the Town for the purpose of supporting programming offered by Hargraves Community Center. Council authorization of this donation is required to accept the vans. Following authorization, a Memorandum of Understanding detailing the terms and conditions of the donation, including the duties of the Town and of the donor, will be finalized.

That the Council authorize the acceptance of the donation and direct Town staff to finalize the Memorandum of Understanding relevant to the donation.

Key Issues:
• Parks and Recreation staff strongly support and are eager to accept the donation. The vans will allow Hargraves Center to expand and enhance its programming and outreach.
Fiscal Impact/Resources: Through authorizing this resolution and donation, the Town effectively agrees to add the two vehicles to its inventory and to assume ongoing costs and responsibility including but not limited to routine maintenance, repairs, insurance, and inspections. These costs will be covered within existing budgets.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ACCEPTANCE OF DONATION OF TWO VANS TO SUPPORT PROGRAMMING AT HARGRAVES COMMUNITY CENTER (2022-10-19/R-3)
WHEREAS, a donor desires to donate two passenger vans to the Town for the purpose of supporting programming and outreach at Hargraves Community Center; and
WHEREAS, the Hargraves Community Center will utilize the vehicles in order to enhance programming and outreach provided by the site; and
WHEREAS, the Town agrees to assume the costs for routine maintenance, repairs, insurance, and inspections of the vehicles at its discretion;
WHEREAS, the terms and conditions of the donation will be finalized in a Memorandum of Understanding to be agreed upon by both the donor and the Town following Council authorization of this resolution.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Chapel Hill that the Council authorizes the Town Manager or his designee to work with the donor to finalize the terms and conditions of the aforementioned Memorandum of Understanding.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council wishes to extend great appreciation to the donor for their generosity.
