memorandum

to:                     Mayor and Town Council

from:                                          Amy Ryan, Chair

subject:                       Recommendation for the Planning Commission vacancy(s)

date:                                          April 17, 2018

Recommendation:  The Planning Commission met on April 17, 2018, and by a unanimous vote have made the following recommendation(s) to the Town Council for consideration:

Melissa McCullough, Reappointment, Environmental Stewardship Advisory Board Champion Seat

Stephen Whitlow, Appointment, Housing Advisory Board Champion Seat

Louie Rivers III, Reappointment, Town Resident Seat

Buffie Webber, Appointment, Town Resident Seat

Special Request(s): None

Background: The Planning Commission recommends appointing Buffie Webber to the Town Resident seat in order to appoint Stephen Whitlow to the Housing Advisory Board Champion seat. The Commission feels strongly that Mr. Whitlow's experience makes him exceptionally well qualified to serve as the Housing Advisory Board Champion, and Buffie Webber volunteered to amend her application from Housing Advisory Board Champion (reappointment) to Town Resident (appointment) in order to allow Mr. Whitlow to serve as Housing Advisory Board Champion.

Note: Communications and Public Affairs notes that the Planning Commission reviewed the following applications: Jeffrey Charles, Bennett Dansby, Hui Ding, Kimberly Hoppin, Melissa McCullough, Hoi Ning Ngai, Louie Rivers III, David Schwartz, Renuka Soll, Buffie Webber, Stephen Whitlow, and Stacey Wooden. James Bartow and Robert Corty withdrew their applications. No additional applications have been received between April 17 and April 23, 2018 for the Planning Commission.
